Population: 6,300 Muisne is a small village set on an island with
an extensive beach which is about 1 1/2 Km away from the village. There are several motorized canoes to cross Río Muisne to the island for about US$1.00. The region has a small shrimp and banana production and there are no banks. However, there is a place where you can change Travelers' checks close to the dock.Calle Manabí and Isidro Ayora are the main streets in town. Parque Central is one block away from the Río Muisne. The Pacifictel office is on Ayora street close to Parque Central and the Post office is just around

Located on calle Manabí (by the beach). | | | Transport | | Bus (All buses stop on the mainland) Frequent bus service from Quito or Guayaquil to Esmeraldas with Transportes Esmeraldas, Transportes Occidentales or PanAmericana. Once in Esmeraldas, you can take a bus or "Ranchera" (open-sided buses) with "La Costenita" or "del Pacífico" (local bus lines), both offer daily transport from Esmeraldas' market (below the main square) to nearby destinations such as: Atacames, Borbon, Sua, Muisne, Same amongst others. Rancheras are cheap, slow and very uncomfortable. Never take either buses or taxis at night into the above mentioned areas. Boat There is a frequent Canoe service between the mainland and the island, and cost around US$0.30. Also other boats going Chamanga-Cojimíes and Muisne-Cojimíes (2 1/2 hours), about US$10 per person, which can be bought at the dock. | | | Tonchigue | | | A small tranquil fishing town, about 2 1/2 hours from Muisne.
