El Quiteño libre.- Young crowd disco (25 to 40). Address: Gonzalez Suárez and Muros.

Acústica.- Young crowd (18 to 25). Address: Portugal and Eloy Alfaro.

Seseribó.- Salsa and Caribbean music. Address: Veintimilla and 12 de Octubre. Tel. 2563598.

Le Pierrot.- Address: Carrión N22-54 and Amazonas.

Lacienda.- Young crowd (Varied music). Address: Camilo de Orellana near Hotel Quito.

Macks.- Varied music, popular with locals. Address: Maldonado and Pujili (south of Quito) close to El Recreo Trole stop.

Cinema

Multicines.- 10 salons. Address: Amazonas and Naciones Unidas. Tel. 2259677. Also at "El Recreo" Trole stop (south of the city).

Cinemark.- Multi-cinemas with several restaurants in the same complex. Address: Av. América and República (Located at Plaza de las Américas).

Note: There are several other cinemas, but they are not safe.

Salsa lessons

Music

Peñas.- Are very popular amongst locals, folk and latin music is displayed by groups or a single known performer and also, people from the public is allowed to perform if they wish to. Most peñas open at 22:00 and they all have a bohemian ambiance.

Cuerdas Andinas Disco Bar.- Address: Carrión and Juan León Mera.

Ñucanchi.- Address: Av. Universitaria 496 and Armero.

Dayumac.- Address: Juan León Mera and Carrión.

Weekly concerts on Friday evenings are performed at Teatro Sucre, or at Teatro Politécnico by the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional. Contact Tel. 2565733 for additional information. Also, on Tuesdays (three times per month), From February to August and October to December at the Chamber of Commerce auditorium. Address: Av. Amazonas and República. Contact Tel. 2260265/6 Ext. 231 for additional information.

Other concerts from international groups or performers are held at Plaza de Toros (Amazonas and Juan de Azcaray), or at the Coliseo Rumiñahui (Toledo and Queseras del Medio, in La Floresta). Most of these concerts are usually advertised 2 months in advance so, that you have plenty of time to purchase the tickets.

Theaters

Agora.- The Agora holds many live concerts. Address: 12 de Octubre and Patria.

Teatro Sucre.- Built in the 1880s. Address: Manabí between Flores and Guayaquil (Plaza del Teatro). Tel. 2281644.

Patio de Comedias.- Good for local plays. Address: 18 de Septiembre, between Amazonas and 9 de Octubre.

Centro Cultural Afro-Ecuatoriano (CCA).- For cultural events. Address: Tamayo 985 and Lizardo Garcia. Tel. 2522318.

Teatro Charles Chaplin.- Address: Cordero 1200 y J.L. Mera.

Teatro Prometeo.- Attached to the Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana. Address: 6 de Diciembre and Tarqui.

Teatro Aeropuerto.- Address: Juan J. Pazmiño and Av. de la Prensa. Tel. 2506651, Ext 121.

Teatro Humanizarte.- Address: Leonidas Plaza N24-226 and Baquerizo Moreno.
