Maps |
For
current maps and aerial photographic (panoramic) indexes 08:00-16:00
Monday to Friday, it is well worth visiting the buildings of Instituto
Geográfico Militar, located behind the Military hospital
off Paz and Miño, turn right at this direction and then
upon entering you will need to deposit your ID Card or passport
for security.
The official maps from IGM can be seen online at IGM's
section.
Places of worship |
Quito
has several churches of worship and prayer in both North and South
locations. One example is the Lutheran/Anglican church service
in English at the Advent Lutheran facility on Isabel la Católica
1419 on Sundays at 09:00.
South American Explorers |
A
very useful organization for Ecuador tours and other interesting
excursions is through the South
American Explorers
guide located on Jorge Washington 311 and Leonidas Plaza. Tel
& Fax: 2 225228. Or, you can also take a look at their web.
See our useful
tips
section.
Useful addresses |
For
stolen or lost property and passports you are required to report
the case within 48 hours in a denuncia (in Spanish) to
the Police Criminal Investigations department in the old city
at Cuenca and Mideros or, Policia Judicial (Roca and Juan
León Mera). If you wait to long to place a denuncia, you
will need to hire a lawyer.
The Policia de Turismo is also helpful and is located on
Reina Victoria and Roca (Tel. 2 543983). New passports cannot
be reissued unless you have the reports stamped by the official
attending to your case. See
also useful tips.
