Shrimp

Ecuador
is the second largest producer in the West and largest source
of farmed shrimp and prawns in the world. The major domestic shrimp
is the white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei), farmed in local ponds
and uses an area of around 178,000 hectares.
Shrimp
from Ecuador is exported with head-on shrimp or in shrimp tails
raw as well as the frozen variety with the shell on and glazed.
Peeled shrimp (deveined, non-deveined, and tail on) are further
products for export. Shrimp of all sizes are shipped out all year
around although the main tails grading of 26/30 per pound (40/50
per kilogram) or smaller.
The
major importers of shrimp from Ecuador are the United States,
Italy, France, Spain, Belgium and Holland. The product is shipped
in waxed cardboard boxes, 5 pounds (2.2 kilograms) each. These
are further consolidated into 50-pound (22-kilogram) boxes then
loaded into refrigerated containers of 20 or 40-cubic-foot capacity

Fresh
& Frozen Fish

Ecuador has an abundance of fish types that front the world marketplace.
Exports of fresh and frozen fish examples include the dorado,
tuna, sea bass, sea bass, and swordfish and the main buyers are
the United States, Japan, Spain and Colombia.
Ecuador's third marine export is also fishmeal, which is used
in the following countries local cuisine in preparing fishmeals
in Japan, Colombia, Germany and Mexico and several others.
Ecuadorian fishmeal is very high in protein with a level of 65
percent. The fish meal is packed in polypropylene bags in quantities
of about 50 kilograms after an antioxidant process.

Tuna

This
product is exported as chunks packed in oil or brine, or as flakes
packed in oil in canned type. Additionally, Canned sardines are
sent in both tomato sauce and oil, although macarela is canned
in brine.
Finally,
Squid has also been exported in small but expanding quantities
since 1985. It is shipped after being eviscerated and subsequently
frozen whole but most often with the head severed, or sectioned
into fins, tentacles, or mantle.
